Walsall residents take part in pilot scheme to lower energy costs

A group of six Walsall residents are set to benefit from lower energy costs according to Accord Group.

As a pilot ahead of a multi-million pound retrofit project, the group has selected six demonstrator houses across the town that will be fitted with a range of green technologies to make them up to 25% more energy efficient.

Each house will be fitted with up to £40,000 of new-to-market energy saving products, including external and internal wall insulation, solar panels and new ventilation, heating systems and the international innovation award winning Oxypod®.

Paul White, ERDF project manager at the Accord Group, said: “This innovative project will not only make the homes more energy efficient so that they are cheaper to run for customers, but also supports local businesses to have a stronger presence in the emerging 'green’ sector.”

Local residentJacke said "my new triple glazed windows are already reducing the noise from the road as well as saving me money”.

The six demonstrator homes will have the green technologies fitted over the next two months, with monitoring ongoing over the summer and winter.
